What Is a Pivot Table in Excel and What Is It Used For?Ī Pivot Table in Excel is a tool that summarizes data and allows you to perform various mathematical calculations using the data. The PivotTable is customizable and you can get the totals of any field (either a row-wise or a column-wise total) you want. However, if you are interested in comparing several facts and finding statistics regarding sales, profit, or grand total, the Pivot Table is efficient for that. You can use SUMIF and SUMIFS formulas to sum a long list of numbers using one or more conditions. In an Excel spreadsheet, you can find the Pivot Table under the Insert tab. PivotTable in Excel has features that perform all these operations. You are interested in knowing the total sales, sales of each product, and sales made by individuals. When you work with large data sets in Excel, the pivot table makes an interactive summary from many different records.Īnother advantage of using pivot tables in Excel is that you can set up and change the structure of your summary table by dragging and dropping the source table’s column.įor instance, you have a table with the sales information of a product at different branches by a different salesperson. ![]() Electric vaccums are better than a broom because it is easier than cleaning and "less dirty". The motivation by these early product designers and marketers was to hide the dirt. With older model vacuum cleaners, people never see the dirt. MOST of the blog reviews I read show pictures of dirt in the collection chamber. If a sweeper cleans what is visible, how can you distinguish between one that does a great job and one that doesn't do such a great job? Those studies concluded that people could not distinguish because vacuum cleaners on the market.Ī key concern identified in the studies is that consumers have difficulty understanding how much dirt, dust, and pet hair is actually collected by a vaccum. How could it not be? Jeremy an expert in mysql and a fine technologist for a very well known internet company, he isn't a janitor for a very well known internet company.ĭyson vacuum is doing well because of the marketing which grew out of several marketing research studies. How many modern sweepers has Jeremy compared the Dyson to? Sure it is the best sweeper he has ever used. However, that's like someone claiming that their new computer is better than their old one. In comparison to OLD sweepers, obviously they are better. Is a connoisseur of fine sweepers? Maybe he is getting bored with mysql. Is Jeremy qualified to make such a judgement. He bought into them and verified them in his posting and went as far as saying, "it is the best vacuum ever". Jeremy's pal started drinking the Dyson Kool-Aid and then passed along the marketing points to Jeremy. British guy preserved for marketing message). Apple has good design, Dyson just tries to project good design and sophistication (e.g. I'd argue that the comparison to Apple isn't necessarily accurate because Apple products are superior in most cases (except for that piece of trash new flash IPOD that looks like a cheap walmart import). Instead, they took a luxury product approach as pointed out by another post. Most of the points are not actually true. There really aren't many differences in features between the Dyson and other models on the market. Other models have ALL attachements with their models. Whether it originated from word of mouth, blog, or online review you are all eating the same dogfood.ġ) dyson isn't more powerful than other models or more efficient at picking up dirt, dust or especially things like pet hair than modelsĢ) the design isn't actually better, as proven by Consumer Reports labsģ) it weighs quite a bit more and takes up more space for storage, among other issues.Ĥ) it doesn't have as many attachments, instead they split the various attachments across models. He *IS* a slave to the marketing, just as you apparently are. Jeremy's points exactly match and follow the primary marketing messages promoted by Dyson as key differentiators. The marketing message was simply regurgitated from one consumer and passed along to another. I would wholly recommend that you consider a few business courses to understand the other side of the fence. The entire thing is marketing fellow technocrats! I'm going to chime in here briefly, as a CS major with MBA. There's a reason I publish my comment policy, folks. I've nuked them all but kept the intelligent responses. Update: It seems that one of my trolls was in the comments. You can get it on, Yahoo! Shopping, or Best Buy (like I did). Not only does it suck really well, it comes with a ton of attachments that make cleaning furniture and stairs fairly easy too. This vacuum is far and away the best I've ever used or seen. ![]() It picked up an amazing amount of cat hair, litter, and other tidbits. The first time I used the Dyson, which is bagless, I completely filled the chamber twice. ![]() So I eventually decided to give it a shot. However, my old vacuum was badly in need of repir or replacement. Paying more than $500 for a vacuum isn't an easy decision. Over on I found a lot of good reviews and also noticed the price. He said it was the Dyson DC14 Animal, so I went looking for more info. Like me, he has a pair of cats that tend to shed a lot of hair and leave bits of litter in the carpet. A couple months back Derek mentioned that he got a new vacuum and was really, really happy with it. ![]() all items will arrive at you in 7 to 20 business days with a tracking number. Reese is one of the most business minded anglers on tour, his business acumen is astounding, and he works with his partners on very deep levels. However, to the angler, that is only part of the equation until after events have concluded then the business begins.Ī Pro Living in the Glory of his Job – photo by Dan O’Sullivan The best part about winning a tournament – on the business side – is that it helps the angler build credibility with the consumer for their sponsors. The long hours of practice during tournament weeks all are performed as a labor of love so that they have a chance at winning an event. However, as one of the Elite Series pros’ wives told me recently, that they (the pros) do all of this work so that they can do what they really love to do which is fish.Īll of that said, they do that one part with as much passion as they can. While so much of the job seems like busy work, the good news is that most of these anglers do genuinely enjoy the interaction with fans, so it becomes part of the enjoyment and not part of the mundane. That part makes up 70 to 75-percent of the job. There are the office work days, the travel days, the research days, the show days and of course meetings with sponsors and sales calls to potential sponsors media interviews and on, and on… Of course, it is one of the most important parts of the job, but in the actual application of a career, the fishing part makes up probably less than a third of their actual time on the job. But, that activity is only a small percentage of their job. We see them on television catching – or not- catching bass, winning, or losing events and putting on a show for the camera. We all see the pros that fish the Bassmaster Elite Series and FLW Tours doing what they love. Putnam County is going all out with food, fun and games to go along with the event.Takeoff at the 2009 Bassmater Classic – photo by Dan O’Sullivan The public is welcome to watch the weigh-ins today through Sunday. Thliveros and several other pros at the captains' meeting on Wednesday night estimated it will take between 80 and 90 pounds of bass to win the event. In addition, most of the larger fish should have been caught, or otherwise disturbed, off the beds by Saturday. Weights should decline on the last two days. The big fish will be moving off the beds as the full moon rises Saturday. The pro anglers said that the first two days of fishing will be pivotal. "They're bedding all up and down the river, from Lake George all the way to Jacksonville," he said. Thliveros - known on the pro tour as "Peter T" - said spawning bass will play a big role in the outcome of the event. It's his backyard, literally, and he is as good a bedding bass angler as there is. If there was anything like an official gambling line on professional bass fishing, Scroggins would be the favorite. Johns County has pre-fished the last three days, as has Palatka's hometown angler, Terry Scroggins. The last-place angler will take home $5,000. On Sunday, only the top 12 will be in the hunt for the $100,000 first-place prize. After two days of fishing today and Friday, the top 49 anglers will fish Saturday. It could be considered qualifying, but the four-day weights add up for the last men standing. This event brings dollars and national recognition to Palatka. Ninety-eight of the finest bass anglers on the planet are in town for the next four days to fish in a Bassmaster Elite tournament.
